Stilll Waiting For A Job?

77196702_b2zrsuf0_qBXml_17200 A friend of mine asked the question, “What do you think is the major cause of unemployment in India?”. I went through my own story. Analysing a bit, I found many few reasons.

The reasons most contributing to the scenario is the mental rigidity. A person will never be unemployed if he or she wants to earn. People can also earn by supplying water. Most people in Hyderabad do this. And they have full fledged staff involved!

What I think is that society should project alternate means of earning. This has been the tendency of media to show that people turning to anti-social and immoral activities when they did not get jobs. It is easy to be mis-guided under such circumstances, but it is not necessary that you keep on sulking about the inaction of the governments. But you can act positively instead of questioning authorities.

There would be no jobs if everybody wants to join the service sector. Instead of relying on the society and goverment to give you a job, why dont you take up the responsibility of providing jobs to yourself as well as others like you?

What I mean is to do something productive. There are some programs that offer employement like the Jawahar Rozgar Yozna, which mainly cater to the officials managing them.

I do not think Indian Youth needs such programs. After running vainly after such programs for years to start something, I found that reality lies elsewhere. In my opinion, you yourself can fund your projects if you can plan one. Your parents and friends should support such cause instead of criticising the youth and creating obstacles in their path.

There would be no unemployment if we support each other, realize what we can do and use that skills to earn money. We need not look for jobs with other companies. Neither do we need to wait for govt’s action. What we need is moral support. Thats it.

And the main reason behind this unemployment scnario is the lack of support, moral support. There was a time when everybody respected other’s decision. Decision to do something productive. But now we dont want to take risk. A person would say that self-employment is an option for useless people. He or she would say that there is no future in such endeavors.

But I ask them, where would the other millions have been if Dhirubhai also thought in the same track? In today’s age, information is available at fingertips. This means you can research the field you want to enter. You can use the various networks avaialable. You can also create one. You need only determination.

Yes, there are some classes of society where information does not reach. They cannot access facilities like internet or social groups. But first let us start. If you really care about the unemployment scenario, very soon we can make them join in. All it needs is some determination. Determination to break free of social rigidity.

Unemployability is a big reason for the increasing tide of unemployment in this country where white-collared jobs, in particular in the public sector were preferred.

This is something that really churns my insides. America is getting worse and worse, job wise, and it annoys me that there are a lot of people out there that will sit around and just collect checks from the government. I didn’t know it was as bad in India though.

There is such a thing as underground economy that is an entrepreneur’s heaven! It is also tax-free. :) A little microfinancing brings about a little enterprise.

Not everyone is employable, but anyone can be an entrepreneur in his own right.

Collective imagination, such as the need to be employed, does sway popular priority and premium.

There definitely is this thing about ”respect” in India. An unemployed youth is supposedly more respected than him doing a ”lowly” job. Call centers have changed the scenario a bit and people are taking up jobs there, though the earlier generation will swear that it is not a career and not a job at all.

Every kind of job needs respect. I have a friend who used to work as a waiter in Australia while she was studying her business management. Well, she did not face society criticism there. Why is it that in India everyone looks at the type of job rather than doing something productive first?

I guess with poverty comes a unique definition of prestige. It is still material paranoia, and that exists in practically all of the world. It really has something to do with collective imagination that dictates status.

I suppose the human mind has everything to do with all this. Your employability or otherwise is basically in ones mind. Either way, I believe there is so much to be done in this world including volunteering or starting up your own establishment (entrepreneur) and participate in making this world a better place to live by providing jobs to those that wait to be employed.
