Entire yesterday, all news channels were flashing stories about ISRO losing contact with Chandrayan 1. They saw people at ISRO depressed and almost crying. Twitter was giving me updates on ISRO’s failure on tracing the satellite.

Well, the ISRO people have a reason to cry or get depressed over the episode. They worked hard on the satellite and were expecting results – good results – for which, it was placed in the orbit. Still, they say that the satellite provided more than what they expected.

From 1947 to 1952, several people worked even harder to create the constitution of India. The constitution was aimed at improving the lives of Indians under the fresh democracy that was later called the Republic of India. This constitution was framed so as to provide equal rights to all the castes, bring in harmony among different religions, and states while fulfilling the basic needs of the general public. This was never achieved.

The initial governments followed the constitution as a thumb rule and very soon, the purpose of the original Indian Constitution was lost: Indian Government lost contact with General Public. Nobody ever tried to restore this contact though they claim much. I agree that there have been improvements in certain sectors… but were the objectives of the Indian Constitution met?

The people who drafted the constitution to make it a united India, if they were alive – imagine how much would they have been crying over the misuse of the constitution? Imagine the people who laid down their lives dreaming of an independent, republic nation! Media won’t take up such issues because these won’t sell! But - ISRO losing contact with Chandrayan – makes headlines and the media will make a big show of it for as many days as people take interest in the news - as they did in Arushi Murder Case (remember the media killing her daily for more than two months?)

The current politics tend to divide India further into castes and sub-castes by promoting quotas for all kinds of castes I never knew existed. There was a time when people of lower castes (though I don’t believe in caste system) fought for equal rights. Now, they fight to claim that they belong to certain caste and hence should be given special privileges.

Obviously, Dr. Ambedkar did not think so far while helping out in creating the constitution. If he had, I am sure he would have never ever included any clauses for providing equality to castes.

And if you lay your hands on the constitution, you will understand that he asked for equal rights and NOT special rights. How silly is it to ask a three year old kid about his/her caste when she/he goes to register with a kindergarten? That is the beginning. Throughout the later life, she/he is required to fill in caste details and produce caste certificates for concessions in education and also in government employment!

Strange… DON’T YOU THINK THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED TO PROVIDE SPECIAL PRIVILEGES TO POOR PEOPLE… AS THEY HAVE IT IN THE US? I guess it is time to re-write the entire constitution of India for betterment of people. But I know this won’t happen unless another revolution takes place – and that is not to be seen anywhere in future. Still, I would like to wish Jagore.com, “ALL THE BEST” for trying to bring in change among people. At least they are trying while we are busy with our daily life that is getting into mess as each day passes by.

Another interesting story on rounds is about Jinnah and BJP... Check it out too...

The wrath of “United India Politicians” is currently focused on Advani… just because he praised Jinnah. People say Jinnah was responsible for the 1947 partition. 1947? Why go back to those days? The politicians are still dividing India daily on caste and lingual basis. Bihar broke into two parts, UP and MP too. Now they want another state in Andhra Pradesh. The Thackeray’s even go to an extent where they want Mumbai to be isolated from India!

Reason: The more the divisions are, the more groups will be created and accordingly the center will distribute funds that can be used by these so called guardians of the Republic of India for personal use and power.

And do you think Jinnah alone was responsible for the division way back… A single person cannot change the world. He may be responsible for instigating people to have their own state of Pakistan. And what was wrong with it…

Accept it or not: Jinnah was also a great freedom fighter who too went through several trials in the British rule. Just because he asked for Pakistan as a separate country, he does not become a traitor. The traitors were people who instigated riots in the name of partition, for their own benefits and out of confusion.

If he asked for a separate country, it was logical. When such a big system of Indian Republic is not able to handle the smallest issues where minorities are still being killed, what would have been the case when Pak was also a part of India? Ever thought of it? How much protection is the Indian government able to provide to Christian Missionaries? They preach, they don’t ask you to convert. If you convert, it is your wish and NOT theirs… who are we to interfere? Have you not faced people who asked you stop praying God and go to some mortal being, claiming him/her-self to be more than God? A point worth considering!

I would put a stop here else, it will be longer than the Indian Constitution itself. However, ponder for a moment… where we are leading to and most importantly, who is leading us: The Indian Govenment, THE MEDIA, or your own personal beliefs!

I can’t see any hope here. If you can, let me know so that I too get some relief!

Thanks!

–
Best Regards,

Many organizations that sent Indian residents for special abroad at their own expenses, expecting that these people will return and give back to the organization or to the country, what they learned abroad. Instead, they get resignation letters from most of these people who opt to settle down abroad, thus disappointing not only the specific organization, but also the entire country. There must be something that makes them behave like this. People do not like to ditch others unless there is a good reason. Let us see and discuss why this happens and how to stop such actions in future.

A brain drain is a large emigration of individuals with the Knowledge or Technical skills, usually due to conflict, political instability, lack of opportunity, or health risks. A brain drain is generally regarded as an economic cost, because emigrants usually take with them the fraction of value of their teaching sponsored by government.

Do you believe brain drain, regularly known as a main problem in our country is essentially a bad thing? I don’t think so. In reality it is a big gift that capable minds are able to depart the country and track their goals and dreams elsewhere. At the first glimpse, it seems like a huge loss. A significant number of young people are parting the country. It looks like the state is loosing a lot of knowledgeable and educated workforce.

However, what will happen if they seal the borders and detain all this talent inside the nation? Would they be able to grow and be as creative as they would like to? Would they cause a technological revolution or will they join the queue of unemployed people as well as produce more problems for our already worried society?

The biggest benefit of brain drain is that all those individual brains will get the opportunity to nurture in another atmosphere where they get more support as well as have more freedom to boom and this is why they leave. From a universal point of view, it will help talents develop and not be shattered. Here is a plain example, a very intelligent friend of mine got a medal in the International Physics Olympics as well as entered the university with no concourse.

He graduated with most excellent marks, passed the Masters Entrance exam however was failed for some silly reason. For some time he unsuccessfully tried to get around the difficulty, but at the end he gave up and determined to study his masters out of the country. Now he is a PhD as well as lives happily and works in the States. Would someone else in his condition have done something else? I think no.

Furthermore, the knowledge that those young brilliant people gain overseas will be very helpful if they choose in a later phase to go back as well as settle down or engage in their country. The fact that young cultured people leave the country in the present situation is not only good for themselves however is also good for the world.

However on the other side, Brain drain is a severe loss due to the flow of the competent and effective sector of the country particularly oil producing states which are now in terrible need for trained and highly skilled employees. Brain drain influences all level of education in the world which suffers illiteracy estimation at 70 million people. The economy can also be affected due to expenditure on study whether state funded or privately.

The migration even broadens the gap between the rich and poor countries. Brain drain is advantageous to the beneficiary countries as well as loss to countries of origin, because it deprives these countries from the innovations of their subjects. Such countries as a result have become culturally and technologically dependent on the West.

An answer to this would be to encourage entrepreneurs to produce employment. The Government is supposed to give concessions in tax as well as decrease the hassles concerned in setting up an industry. In this way we could make India’s workforce one of its major assets.

This is what I could think of. More suggestions are welcome.

Finally, it happened. We were all convinced that the terrorists will never hurt the cricketers. Even when the England team returned after Mumbai siege, the former Pak skipper, Imran Khan, issued a statement that the English made a hasty statement. He added that there have been several incidents very near to the stadiums where cricketers were practicing but never did any terrorist outfit try to hurt a cricketer.

Now, on February 3, 2009, on his own grounds, he sees the Sri Lankan team being attacked by an unknown terrorist outfit. Luckily, no one died but six of the precious gems of the Sri Lankan team got bullets inside their body.

Moreover, it looks like a pre-planned plan, as per what I got to know. It was not that they fired at public and the cricketers were caught in between. The terror group followed the bus in which the cricketers were carrying and stopped it before releasing thousands of bullets.

The injured cricketers were immediately taken to the military hospital. The cricketers will now be airlifted to the nearest safe place, Dubai and not India. This means that the intelligence is aware of such plans will be implemented in India too.

If not for the police-van covering the security, all the team would have been gone. Five police officers lost their lives in the shootout to save the cricketers. What does Pakistan say now? Whom will it blame again? Why is it not realizing that the terrorist military outfits being openly operated from the country are not harming the only India, but their own country?

The incident places a big question mark on the future of cricket in the South Asia. It also will have a significant impact on the coming tournaments including the IPL 2009. Not only sports, but also all other sectors are being spoiled by these people whom Pakistan is providing open support. We can now forget the revenue from tourism, as people in most of the foreign countries have been asked to stay away from Indian sub-continent. Cruise liners go around the Indian Ocean without entering the waters of the sub-continent.

We can also forget the revenue from new investments in the country. Laloo’s plan about expanding manufacturing sector in Bihar was ridiculed. Under the current scenario, is any country in South Asia safe for investing money? Then why ridicule Bihar?

Already the four major nations in the region are struggling to meet the needs of the general public. Add to these the terror and very soon whole sub-continent will be cut off from the rest of the world.

In my opinion, we have had enough of talks. It is time for action. Whether or not the US supports it or the UN places a ban, all the other countries in this region need to launch a “combined combing attack on the Pakistan-Afghan region and eliminate each element that reflects even a small doubt of providing support to terrorism.

However, no, I know we will still stick to the Nehru’s no attack policy and show that India is a very tolerant country. We don’t need this false prestige. We just need to wipe out the terrorists from the area. If we start, others will soon follow the path.

How to Quit Smoking – Using Tobacco Cessation

After much research, the US Public Health Commisiion has recommended some counseling and medication treatments that are considerably more effective for people looking for an answer on how to quit smoking. The Commission urges clinicians to use several new guidelines to reduce the use of tobacco.

This research was based on more than 8,700 research articles. The research concluded that there are 7 treatments approved by the FDA as smoking cessation therapies that offer quit smoking help: bupropion SR, nicotine inhaler, nicotine gum, nicotine lozenge, nicotine patch, varenicline, and, nicotine nasal spray,

The reaseach concluded that counseling by itself is not so effective. It should be done with one or more of the above medications to offer proper quit smoking help. The US now has a toll free number where you can avail advice on how to quit smoking. The number is 1-800-QUIT-NOW, This number is especially useful for therapists who are looking to offer much better quit smoking help.

A person who is dependsant on tobacco is under a chronic condition that requires repeated counseling sessions. Often after a few sessions, the person is back to smoking as usual. Therefore the sessions must be conducted in a phased manner to provide total or long term abstinence.

The research also offers some more recommendations that are as flows:

1.	Almost all clinicians should ask their clients or patients whether they smoke and in case of the answer being affirmative, they should ask them to quit smoking for speedy recovery.

2.	Many times, the smokers are not willing to quit smoking. Under such circumstances, the clinicians should use motivational therapies that promote attempts to quit.

3.	The research also asks for group sessions, and telephonic counseling to offer better quit smoking help.

4.	The research urges the insurance companies to provide cover for quit smoking sessions too. As of now, there are very few insurance companies that cover the cost of such quit smoking aids and techniques.

Group counseling has proved useful in treatments of adults as compared to adolescent smokers. The research is still studying the options for use with children and adolescents

The research finally asks the counselors and other public service groups to dispel the myths associated with quit smoking cigarettes. One such myth is that you gain weight as you quit smoking.

The American Medical Association President Ronald M. Davis, M.D., reported that nearly half a million Americans die from tobacco-related illness each year. Using these recommendations can help reduce the 5 million smokers who are likely to die by the next decade if they do not quit. If the information is readily made available to the smokers, they will not fall into traps in finding the answer to the question of how to quit smoking.

Summary: The research conducted recently on how to quit smoking, by the US Public Health Commission recommends the use of seven effective medications in conjunction with the counseling. Also, it recommends easy availably of such sessions over the phone and the internet so that most people can quit smoking cigarettes.

I know this is not the correct time to say this. But while Mumbai is under siege and not only the local police but the Armed forces and NSGs are trying to help Mumbai be free again, will Raj Thackrey continue his drive against North Indians. If the people involved in saving the city too get a mindset like that of Mr. Thackrey, they would rather leave saying let him and his so called followers save Mumbai. Anyways he is against North Indians entering Mumbai.

But others do not think so. There were brave policemen and army officials, who did not care where they are from and laid down their lives in the attempt to save Mumbai. What if they too had the mindset of localizing people in a democracy as vast as the Indian Subcontinent? Where is he now? What is he thinking know? Is he waiting for Mumbai to be free again to start his politics against North Indians.

While there have been statements and concerns shown by several leaders from not only India but from outside also, there is no such press release from Mr. Thackrey.

And for the people who are indulged in spoiling the economy of India, they will not succeed. Maybe they have been successful in gettting a short term win: the local industires are affected badly; the sports season has been spoilt; Tourism departments from different countries are asking people to stay away from India; the Cruise Liners have been adviced to stay away from the waters of India; and much more...

It will definately take time before India could get out of this loss: businesswise as well as from the point of view of tourism. But we will definately win over the terror, no matter we are from North or South, East or from West; because we believe in the unity of the country and we know how to help even our enemies if required.

Meanwhile another point crossed my mind which I could not understand. While all other countries were either condemning the attack or were offering help, Pakistan was repeatedly saying that it does not have anything to do with the attacks. Can anyone explain this?

As far as the question of how to quit smoking is concerned, there are many methods: herbal quit smoking techniques, quit smoking laser therapy, music and relaxation therapy, Allopathy; and quit smoking aids. There is another method which was overlooked by almost everyone. The method is from the psychological field and is being used to treat several mental disorders since centuries: The cognitive therapy.

Nobody thought of applying the method to quit smoking help until a few months ago. As this method was introduced by psychologists to help quit smoking, the results have been positive. Many people are opting for the method even if it is a longer period counseling method. There is some predefined number of sessions which you may attend twice a week or daily as per your convenience and based on the results of the sessions, the total duration of the treatment is determined.

The Cognitive therapy was basically used in patients with some sort of fear associated with something. It was also used to change the behavioral patterns of people. The method is very effective.

It can keep you off smoking cigarettes for two to three years. If you get habituated to the healthy lifestyle in between, you may not need any more counseling. Three years is a long time to bring ample changes in a person’s lifestyle. You may start liking the way you enjoy your food, your smell power increases after you quit smoking.

Initially there may be some withdrawal symptoms if you have been smoking too much for a long time. But then these therapists offer you with quit smoking help which reduces the effect of withdrawal conditions. Withdrawal symptoms are the symptoms that appear if you suddenly stop something addictive. In case of cigarettes, it is quite less and can be some frustration, anger or some uneasiness. Your therapist helping you to quit smoking cigarettes will help you with controlling these symptoms.

So, what is this cognitive therapy about? You know that a child learns things based on his environment. As he notices two things at a time, both of the two things get associated with each other and are stored somewhere in the brain. Later when the kid recalls or sees one of those things, the second item too is recalled automatically. When your therapist offers you quit smoking help, he uses the same concept.

First of all, you are presented with the environment containing the cigarettes’ smoke. While you are in the environment alone, you are given some sort of uneasy or bad feeling that get associated with the smell of cigarettes. This is one of the best answers to the question of how to quit smoking. After successful completion of the sessions, whenever the person tries to light a cigarette, he recalls the bad experience that immediately repels his urge of smoking.

To sum up, when you are finding an answer to the question of how to quit smoking, you may approach a psychologist for the cognitive therapy. The process is a bit lengthy but gives you a guarantee that you will stay away from smoking cigarettes for a longer period of time.

While the cricket media all over the world is all praises for the game spirit shown by the Indians in the 2009 test series between India and Australia, the Australian media is all red over its team. It seems that the whole blame has been of Ricky Ponting. They say that if “he” had shown skills, the situation could have been opposite.

The “Morning Deccan Herald” says that the Australian captain behaved like a newcomer and could not have his team place their feet upon the gross. Other newspapers went to the extent of saying that the team spent 7 days in a sub continent drinking and enjoying so much that they forgot their real intention of going there.

Surprisingly, no other members of the Australian team are being blamed. All fingers are being pointed out at Ponting. The Morning Herald reports that majority of Australian cricket people want the skipper replaced by someone better for the upcoming T20s late this year in Australia. The editorial however says that this is unfair to blame the captain for the loss. He has played in the past and has proved his skills against several strong teams in the world.
The Morning Herald has reportedly said that Ricky Ponting is a very good batsman but a very poor captain. He lacked the skills to motivate the team towards winning the series. Others ask him to remain as a batsman only while leaving the seat of captain for others.

To fight back, Ponting only says that he cannot bend rules to win a game. He says that he followed the ethics of the game and did not bend any rule, though he could have done so in order to win. He is asking the media straight in its eyes, if they expect the captain of a world renowned team to break the rules of a game just to win.

To divert the media attention from the series, Ponting and his close are pointing their fingers at the Australian cricket. They say that they ditched them when the team needed them the most. This is one of the reasons why the team does not have much confidence in the Cricket Board. They said they let off HarBhajan easily during the last session, even when he was found guilty of racial discrimination.

Ponting says he will not leave the matter here and will take it further so that no Cricket Board shows slackness in supporting its team. He blames all the senior cricketers of not supporting the team in the Sydney show. He asks how any team player can continue to have faith in a system that backs up when it comes to provide support to its own team.
